Missions to Okosso

Okosso is a deprived community located in the Upper West Akim District of the Eastern region of Ghana. The community has a population of about 250 people.

It is approximately twenty (20) minutes drive from Adeiso, the district capital. The road leading to the community from Adeiso is dusty and mostly not motorable during the major rain seasons.

The people are peasant farmers who migrated from Accra many years ago to settle here. There is virtually non existence of social amenities in this community. The people access all social services such school, healthcare, market etc in Adeiso and Nsawam.

Not until recently, the community did not have good drinking water. Meaningful Life International in partnership with Axis Pension Trust in March, 2017 came to aid of the people by providing a borehole to supply fresh water which was one of their major problems.

The community is not connected to electricity. The people still depend on lanterns and flashlights during the night. This situation is really having negative tone on the social life of the people.

It may take a longer time for electricity to be connected to the community as there are no visible plans by the district Assembly for that matter, government to execute same.
